Rakshak has been at the forefront in helping Indian Americans deal with the devastating impact of gender biased laws of India . This year, we have been mentioned quite a few times in the Indian Parliament. The US Dept of State also works with us regarding the issues we deal with, especially, regarding Child Abduction.

Services to Victims

Rakshak works in close conjunction with 498a.org and offers support to people who have been falsely implicated in frivolous dowry and domestic violence cases. For victims of gender biased laws, we have 24 hour help lines to counsel and advise them*. The counselors have helped hundreds of victims and offer much needed emotional and moral support.

Initiatives Completed

As part of awareness campaign against gender biased laws of India and its effect on India Americans, Rakshak has conducted many press conferences. Rakshak strives to create awareness in people from all walks of life - US and Indian law makers, Indian Govt representatives in US, Indian Judiciary and the Indian American community. Rakshak also actively participates in events organized by sister organizations.
