For innocents accused under a false 498A, most of whom have never been to a police station or a court before, and are well respected and productive members of the society, the trauma of being accused in a criminal case and visiting courts and police stations is devastating.
Many times the courts also realize that the case is false and frivolous. In such cases, it would be prudent to ensure that no irreversible damage is not done to the careers and lives of these innocent people who are being legally harassed despite having committed no crime. Also, stringent punishments for the misusers of law would create an effective deterrent for people filing false cases.
